OlyBabies

a gathering space for mamas and papas of OlyBabies

OlyBabies - network with mamas and papas in the Olympia and South Sound area.

New Members Welcome!

Welcome to OlyBabies! We're glad you're here.

OlyBabies is a gathering place for mamas and papas around the South Puget Sound (Washington State). We also welcome members who have close relations to the Olympia community but perhaps live far away.

We do not accept commercial or business memberships at this time. Please read the "Commercial Posts" policy box below.

OlyBabies is a social network intended to create dynamic and supportive conversations among parents of new babies. We discuss parenting, postpartum life, infant care, and family wellness.

Respectful communication and speaking from your own experiences and feelings are strongly valued in this community. This means speaking your own truth rather than telling others what you think they should do.

It's easy to create your membership and start participating by posting a personal blog or discussion forum.

Please contact me, Carolyn, if you have questions.

Hugs and welcome!
Carolyn

Commercial Posts

COMMERCIAL MEMBERSHIPS AND POSTS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON OLYBABIES.

We welcome posts about events, classes, and forums that are of an informational or educational nature - including GROUP wellness classes such as prenatal/postpartum yoga. These are important resources for mamas and papas.

We also welcome CONSUMER recommendations for commercial products, stores, services and practitioners (see for example Carolyn's post about SimpleCloth, the local diaper store).

Commercial posts for products or personal/private services posted by vendors or proprietors that don't fit the above descriptions - the kind that would go into advertisements - are not invited in this space. Thank you for respecting this.

The sponsorship messages you see on the upper right side of the page are there to cover the costs of hosting OlyBabies on Ning. When we polled the community about how to pay for the site, the most votes were for local, baby-oriented advertisers, followed by selling OlyBabies merchandise, accepting Google Ads, and member donations.

We are currently seeking local, family-oriented advertises. Please contact me, Carolyn, to learn more.

Breastfeeding Forum Added!

We've just added a dedicated space for breastfeeding and lactation support forums.

http://www.olybabies.net/forum/categories/breastfeeding-lactation/listForCategory

So far we have a collection of 45 discussions about breastfeeding and it's many challenges and joys. So when you post a new discussion topic related to breastfeeding to the forum, you can now categorize it as such.

I hope this makes it easy for new mamas to find past breastfeeding-related discussions. And I hope new mamas and new members also feel welcome to post new discussions even if they've been talked about already. This is a living community where new experiences and perspectives are celebrated!

Hugs, Carolyn

NEW! Cesarean Birth and Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Forum

OlyBabies is proud to offer a new discussion forum category for Cesarean Birth and Vaginal Birth After Cesarean. This is a discussion area where families can share their birth stories and offer support and information about Cesarean births and vaginal births after Cesareans. I have inventoried past discussion forums and placed those dealing with Cesarean birth into this discussion category.

You will find this category in "OlyForum" (from the top menu) or at:

http://www.olybabies.net/forum/categories/cesarean-birth-and-vaginal/listForCategoryhttp://www.olybabies.net/forum/categories/cesarean-birth-and-vaginal/listForCategory.

In the future I'll work on creating more discussion forum categories to make it easier to find discussions that are of interest to you. Please send me a message if you'd like to suggest a category. Popular ones might include "Baby Poop" "Cloth Diapering" and "What on Earth are we gonna do with our active kiddo when it's raining nonstop outside?".

I am so excited to launch a new feature here at Postpartum Progress. It's called Daily Hope. This service is specifically for those of you who are currently suffering from postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, antenatal depression or related illnesses. I know that many of you don't have access to support groups or the best specialists.  You may not have people around you that understand.  Need some extra hope each day from people who DO get it?  Someone to shine a light towards the end of the tunnel?  That's Daily Hope!  Sign up at the link below, and starting on Monday, January 17th, you will receive an email each day with some inspiration and encouragement for getting through perinatal mood & anxiety disorders (PMADs).

To sign up for Postpartum Progress Daily Hope, click here.

Have a friend that you think could use this, or a patient?  Be sure to let them know!!  If you join, you can opt out (unsubscribe) at any time, and you are not required to give your last name.

Daily Hope and Postpartum Progress the Blog are services of Postpartum Progress Inc. the Nonprofit, which is working to vastly improve the support and services available to women with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, primarily through the use of technology.

postpartum couseling

I have decided to look into some postpartum counseling. These are the three places that my insurance covers that supposedly specialize in that. Does anyone have any information on any of them? Was there someone you went to that you really enjoyed?Margaret Ruth Heriot, LMHC; MAMental Health Services, CounselingOlympia Therapy in TumwaterandTracey Johnson in LaceySee More

Hi Jennifer,   I just got my maternity clothes back.  Did your student still need some?  If so, I can drop them off at Simple Cloth Friday.   Thanks, Andrea
